Background Cathepsin S is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CTSS gene.Transcript variants utilizing alternative polyadenylation signals exist for this gene.Cathepsin S is a member of the peptidase C1 family and is a lysosomal cysteine protease that may participate in the degradation of antigenic proteins to peptides for presentation to the MHC class II. Cathepsin S can function as an elastase over a broad pH range in alveolar macrophages.
Assay Solution's products are furnished for LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. The product may not be used as drugs, agricultural or pesticidal products, food additives or household chemicals.
